Classroom Objectives for the Week
Reading: This week we are going to focus on making inferences on a grade level passage. To make an inference the students must use what they know and the clues from the story, to make a conclusion. For a level 2 the students must be able to read a passage, and answer multiple choice inference questions. For a level 3 the students must be able to read a passage, and then find textual evidence that supports the inference. For a level 4 the students must read an above level passage, and make inferences based on the textual evidence.
Math: This week the students will get their tests back on multiplying and dividing whole numbers. We will graph them in their notebooks. This week we will move onto Multiplying Decimals. For a level 2 the students must be able to show the relationship between whole numbers and decimals. They have to use more than one method to show the product of two numbers with decimals. For a level 3 the students must multiply multi-digit numbers that include whole numbers and decimals to the hundredths place. They must also perform this with real-world story problems. For level 4 the students must estimate the product, then multiply to find the answer.
Writing: In writing this week we will focus on capitalization and punctuation. For a level 2 the students must be able to identify sentences that are written correctly that use quotation marks, proper nouns, commas, and pronouns. For a level 3 the students must be able to identify sentences written in a paragraph that are written incorrectly. The students must re-write them. For a level 4 the students must show all of these levels in their everyday writing.
